Rob Bilger
Managing Director - Acquisitions & Divestitures
Mr. Bilger began his oil and gas career with Marathon Oil after earning a BSBA degree from the University of Missouri and an MBA from Northwestern University's Kellogg Graduate School of Business. He was Executive Vice President, CFO and Director of Samson Investment Company from 1999-2001 and held the same title with Ashland Exploration from 1987-1998. Mr. Bilger was Director of Acquisitions for Apache Corporation from 1984-1987. He has directed the negotiations and closings of more than $12 billion of acquisitions and divestitures during his career.
Mr. Bilger is a member of IPAA and its Business Development and CFO Roundtables, as well as being a member of TIPRO, the Houston Producers' Forum, and on the Board of Directors of IPAMS.
David Hopkins
Vice President, Acquisitions & Divestitures
Mr. Hopkins joined Tristone Capital in 2003. He has over 30 years of diversified experience in all phases of the oil and gas industry including reservoir engineering, exploration, drilling and production operations and strategic planning. He began his career as a Petroleum Engineer with Houston Oil and Minerals Corporation in 1976 and later held various technical and management positions with Tenneco Oil, Apache Corporation and EnerVest Management Co., where he was Division Manager and later Senior Vice President of Operations from 1996 to 2000. More recently, Mr. Hopkins’ experience has been more focused on acquisitions and divestitures. Before joining Tristone he served as Vice President - Acquisition Evaluations with Xpronet Resources, where he led the acquisition evaluation efforts for that company from 2001 to 2002.
Since joining Tristone Capital, Mr. Hopkins has worked in various transaction manager and technical lead roles that have been instrumental in the closing of over $6 billion in transactions in the Gulf Coast, Permian Basin, East Texas, Mid-Continent and Rocky Mountain areas.
Mr. Hopkins earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Petroleum Engineering with honors from The University of Texas at Austin in 1975 and is a Registered Professional Engineer in the State of Texas. He is a member of the Society of Petroleum Engineers, Houston Producers' Forum and Houston Chapter of API.
Miles C. Redfield
Managing Director, Acquisitions & Divestitures
Mr. Redfield joined Tristone in May 2004, with over 14 years of petroleum engineering, finance and acquisition and divestiture experience in the oil and gas industry. Prior to joining Tristone, Mr. Redfield founded and co-managed Wells Fargo Energy Advisors having closed over $550 MM in transaction during his three year tenure. Mr. Redfield spent three years with GE Capital where he gained experience associated with oil and gas equity and debt financing. From 1990 to 1998, Mr. Redfield acted as a senior member of BP Amoco's Acquisition and Divestment Group closing over $1.1B in transactions. Prior to getting an MBA, Mr. Redfield worked for Chevron USA and Kaiser Francis Oil Company in various petroleum engineering roles.
Mr. Redfield holds a Bachelor of Science degree in petroleum engineering from The University of Tulsa and a M.B.A. in Finance from The University of Texas.
Douglas D. Perley
Vice President & Director, Acquisitions & Divestitures
Mr. Perley joined Tristone in May 2004. Mr. Perley has over 20 years of economics and acquisition and divestiture experience in the oil and gas industry. Prior to joining Tristone, Mr. Perley founded and co-managed Wells Fargo Energy Advisors having closed over $550 MM in transaction during his three year tenure. From 1990 to 2000, Mr. Perley acted as a senior member of BP Amoco's Acquisition and Divestment Group closing over $1.8 B in deals. Earlier in his career at Amoco, Mr. Perley held various financial analyst positions including treasury and economic evaluation of international projects since 1982.
Mr. Perley holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics from Princeton University and a MBA from The Wharton School of Business.
D. Bruce Cox
Vice President & Director, A&D
Mr. Cox has more than 25 years of oil and gas technical experience, focused on reservoir engineering studies in the U.S. and internationally. He began his career with Exxon in 1981 upon graduation from Louisiana State University. During his nine years with Exxon, he was a Reservoir Engineer, a Drilling Engineer, and finally a Senior Staff Engineer for the Reservoir Technology New Ventures Group. Mr. Cox joined Netherland, Sewell & Associates, Inc. in 1990, holding the position of Senior Vice President where he successfully managed and oversaw integrated reserve and resource studies, including oil and gas property appraisal, reserve certifications and resource assessments. He is a Registered Professional Engineer in Texas.
Jerry Gips
Vice President, Geology
Jerry Gips has over 38 years of experience in the oil and gas industry including employment at Texaco and Bartling Oil Company. In 2000 he joined Tristone Capital after working 18 years as a consulting geologist. Since 1997 he has worked on A&D projects with experience in most major producing basins including the Rocky Mountain, Permian and Panhandle, as well as in the Gulf Coast, Oklahoma, Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama and offshore Gulf of Mexico.
Mr. Gips was awarded a patent for the use of CO2 to recover hydrocarbons from groundwater. He has a Bachelor of Science degree in Geology from the University of Texas, is a licensed geologist in the State of Texas and is an active member of AAPG, HGS, the Houston Producer’s Forum and West University Rotary Club.
Kevin McNichol
Vice President, Acquisitions & Divestitures
Mr. McNichol joined Tristone Capital in 2006. Mr. McNichol has 25 years of varied experience in the E&P industry. Prior to joining Tristone, Mr. McNichol was a partner in Hite, McNichol & Associates, Inc., an established engineering consulting firm in Houston. As a consultant Mr. McNichol's clients included major E&P companies, independents, financial institutions, law firms and large landowners. He has over 15 years experience in acquisitions and divestitures including marketing assets for clients, advising buyers, evaluating exploration ventures and issuing fair market value opinions. Mr. McNichol began his career with Amoco Production Company as a production and reservoir engineer with an emphasis on tight gas sands and secondary recovery. In 1989, Mr. McNichol joined Cox & Perkins Exploration as lead reservoir engineer with a focus on Gulf Coast and Austin Chalk exploration. Mr. McNichol later joined the consulting firm that was predecessor to Hite, McNichol & Associates, Inc. and was named partner in 1999.
Mr. McNichol earned a B. S. in Geological Engineering from Michigan Tech in 1981. He continued his education with Amoco in-house training and business studies at University of Houston. He is a member of the Society of Petroleum Engineers, the Houston Producers Forum and is a past officer of the Society of Petroleum Evaluation Engineers. Mr. McNichol is Registered Professional Engineer in the State of Texas.
Tom Andreen
Senior Engineer Advisor, Acquisitions & Divestitures
Tom Andreen joined Tristone Capital in February 2003, and has more than 30 years of experience in petroleum engineering activities. Prior to joining Tristone Capital, Mr. Andreen worked in various aspects of drilling, production and reservoir engineering. His experience includes analysis of conventional oil and gas properties, as well as expertise in non-conventional assets including coal bed methane, shale gas, tight gas, waterfloods, and CO2 floods. While at Tristone Capital, Mr. Andreen has worked numerous areas and has expertise in the Mid-Continent, Permian, Gulf Coast, South Texas, East Texas, North Louisiana and Rocky Mountains.
Mr. Andreen is a registered professional engineer in the State of Texas and a member of the Society of Petroleum Engineers. He graduated from the University of Texas at Austin in 1978 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Petroleum Engineering.
Jim Coe
Senior Engineer, Acquisitions & Divestitures
Jim Coe started his career in the petroleum industry in 1970 as a reservoir engineer. Mr. Coe has analyzed natural drive reservoirs, waterfloods, miscible floods and is experienced with field development in both conventional and low permeability reservoirs. His experience includes most geologic environments, including deltaic, shoreline, continental, shallow water, deep water, and thrust belts as well as a variety of geographic locations including the Gulf of Mexico, Rocky Mountains, Southeast U.S., West Texas, Canada, North Sea, South Africa and Venezuela.
Mr. Coe joined Tristone Capital in 2006. He has a BS in Petroleum Engineering from Texas A&M University and is a member of the Society of Petroleum Engineers.
Doug Cowan
Senior Geologist, Acquisitions & Divestitures
Doug Cowan joined Tristone Capital in 2005. He has over 35 years of domestic oil and gas experience which includes 20 years with Pennzoil and Total. He later worked as an independent consultant and served as Regional Exploration Manager (Enstar) and has participated in drilling over 1,000 wells in his career.
Mr. Cowan has worked East Texas, North Louisiana and the Gulf Coast producing trends as a geologist and geophysicist in exploration, lease sales, prospect generation, development drilling, unconventional reserves analysis and A&D. He also has exposure to the Ft. Worth, Anadarko, Arkoma and Williston basins. Mr. Cowan is fluent in Geographix, Kingdom and Petra.
Mr. Cowan has a BA in Geology from Trinity University, 2 years of graduate school at New Mexico Tech and is a member of the American Association of Petroleum Geologists, International Association of Mathematical Geologists, Society of Petrophysicists and Well Log Analysts, Canadian Well Logging Society and the Houston Geological Society.
Terry Davidson
Senior Geologist, Acquisitions & Divestitures
Terry Davidson has 35 years of diversified experience in all phases of petroleum geology. Prior to joining Tristone Capital in 2006, he worked for El Paso/Coastal Corporation, Western Geophysical, American Trading and Production, Comexco and C&K Petroleum. His experience includes exploration plays, field development and property A&D, detailed structural and sand trend mapping, and production type maps utilizing subsurface and geophysical methods.
Mr. Davidson is a registered Professional Geologist with the State of Texas. He has a BS in Geology from the University of Houston and a MAG in Resource and Environmental Management from Southwest Texas State University. He is a Certified Petroleum Geologist through the American Association of Petroleum Geologist and the American Institute of Professional Geologist and an active member of the Society of Exploration Geophysicist and the Houston Geological Society.
Robin Gaines
Associate, Acquisitions & Divestitures
Robin Gaines joined Tristone Capital in March 2007 and has 14 years of experience in the oil and gas industry. Prior to joining Tristone Capital, Ms. Gaines spent 11 years at Netherland, Sewell & Associates, Inc. as a Petroleum Analyst Coordinator where she specialized in the management and development of economic models for US and international oil and gas properties, database manipulation and technical document generation, editing and standardization.
Ms. Gaines graduated with honors from Louisiana State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics.
Philip Pavlich
Senior Engineer, Acquisitions & Divestitures
Philip Pavlich joined Tristone Capital in August 2005 and has 29 years experience in petroleum engineering. Prior joining Tristone Capital, Philip worked at Tri-Union Development and Atasca Resources as a reservoir and operations engineer. His assignments included projects with secondary recovery operations, identifying A&D related upside opportunities, and implementing drilling and workover projects. While at Tristone Capital he has been the lead engineer on assignments in the Rockies, Oklahoma, Permian Basin, Panhandle, Gulf Coast, and offshore Gulf of Mexico.
Mr. Pavlich is a registered professional engineer in Texas and a member of the Society of Petroleum Engineers. He has a bachelor’s degree in Petroleum Engineering from the University of Texas and an MBA degree in Finance from the University of Houston.
Jane Reiss
Senior Geologist, Acquisitions & Divestitures
Jane Reiss has 37 years experience as a Petroleum Geologist in exploration and development geology and geophysics. She has worked as a senior geologist for Tristone Capital since June of 2003. Ms. Reiss has worked in both technical and management positions with major and independent oil and gas companies. Her responsibilities have included prospect generation, field development, reserve calculations, wellsite evaluation, seismic acquisition and interpretation, oil and gas expert witness testimony, and A&D. Ms. Reiss has worked A&D in the onshore and offshore Gulf Coast, East Texas, South Texas, Anadarko Basin, Texas Panhandle and Permian Basin.
Ms. Reiss is a certified professional geologist in the State of Texas and a member of numerous professional societies. She has a Bachelor of Science degree in Geology from Indiana University.
Natalie Synnott
Associate, Acquisitions & Divestitures
Mrs. Synnott joined Tristone in June 2007. Mrs. Synnott has over seven years of experience in acquisition and divestiture transaction execution. Prior to re-joining Tristone, Mrs. Synnott was an Associate at LaSalle Corporate Finance, where she focused on sell-side transaction advisory across multiple industries, and, prior to that, she was an Associate with Wells Fargo Energy Advisors, where she focused on oil and gas property divestitures. Mrs. Synnott began her career as a Financial Analyst at Enron Corp. Mrs. Synnott earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics from Vanderbilt University. She is a member of the Junior League of Houston and is a DePelchin Children's Center Volunteer.
Jim Zavitsky
Senior Engineering Advisor, Acquisitions & Divestitures
Jim Zavitsky has 21 years oil and gas experience. He has been with Tristone Capital since March of 2000. Mr. Zavitsky has previously worked for Amoco Production Company in a variety of assignments including both conventional (primary and secondary) and enhanced recovery projects (CO2 Flooding). Mr. Zavitsky has worked A&D in most major basins including the Rocky Mountain, Mid-Continent, Permian, Panhandle, and Gulf Coast as well as a number of coalbed methane packages in the Powder River and Cherokee Basins.
Mr. Zavitsky is a registered professional engineer and a member of the Society of Petroleum Engineers. He has a bachelor degree in Chemical Engineering from the Pennsylvania State University.
Doug Rogers
Engineer, Acquisitions & Divestitures
Doug Rogers joined Tristone Capital in 2008 after working five years for ExxonMobil as a reservoir engineer. He worked a variety of assignments and gained experience including reserves analysis, field development and economics, lease negotiation, and scoping-level simulation. Assignments were in south Texas, California, and various locations onshore and offshore in the Middle East and Eurasia.
Doug earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering from Brigham Young University in 2003. In 2008 he graduated from the University of Texas with a Masters degree in Business Administration.
Philip Cossich

Mr. Cossich joined Tristone Capital in September 2007. Mr. Cossich is a 2007 graduate of Washington & Lee University, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration.
