David M. Vankka
Managing Director, Institutional Trading
Mr. Vankka joined Tristone in September, 2002 as Managing Director, Institutional Trading. Prior to that, he spent seven years at Peters & Co. Limited, a Canadian energy investment bank. During his time at Peters & Co., the company was one of Canada's most active traders of oil and gas securities. Mr. Vankka was most recently Co-Head, Institutional Trading and preceded that as Principal, Corporate Finance.
Mr. Vankka is a Chartered Accountant and holds a Chartered Financial Analyst designation. He has a Bachelor of Commerce degree with distinction from the University of Calgary.
Andrew Abbott
Managing Director, Institutional Trading
Mr. Abbott joined Tristone in May 2002 as Managing Director, Institutional Trading. He was previously Vice President - Trading responsible for setting up the institutional trading department at Acumen Capital Partners. Prior to Acumen, Mr. Abbott was an institutional trader at Newcrest Capital Inc. and Peters & Co. Limited. He began his career in Toronto in 1986 and spent 9 years working as an institutional trader for Canagex, McNeil Mantha and Merrill Lynch Canada.
Mr. Abbott holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Calgary.
Kerk Hilton
Vice President, Institutional Sales
Mr. Hilton joined Tristone in May 2006 in institutional sales. Prior to joining the firm, he spent the last three years at Canetic Resources Trust where he was employed as Director, Investor Relations, through its growth from a $400 million market capitalization to approximately $5 billion. He began his career in Canada's oil and gas industry in 1994 with the Petroleum Services Association of Canada, and has also served in senior investor relations capacities at Prudential Steel Ltd. and Enserco Energy Service Co. Ltd., both which were acquired by U.S. competitors. He holds a Bachelor's degree from Mount Royal College.
Robert F. Colcleugh
Managing Director, Institutional Sales
Before joining Tristone in September of 2002, Mr. Colcleugh ran Duke Energy's power marketing business in the de-regulated Ontario electricity market. Previously, Mr. Colcleugh managed Duke's Canadian energy merchant banking business which focused on investing in oil and gas producers and properties. Before Duke, Mr. Colcleugh spent 2 years with a private boutique merchant banking firm structuring and investing resource flow -through limited partnerships. Prior thereto, Mr. Colcleugh worked at the Investment Funds Institute of Canada.
Mr. Colcleugh holds a Bachelor's degree in Economics and an MBA from the Richard Ivey School of Business at the University of Western Ontario.
Warren G. Robinson
Managing Director, Institutional Sales
Mr. Robinson joined Tristone in October 2003 as Vice President, Institutional Sales. Before joining Tristone, he worked in the institutional sales division of TD Newcrest/Newcrest Capital for four years. Prior to that, Mr. Robinson spent two years working for Loewen, Ondaatje, McCutcheon Ltd., an institutional equity firm.
David G. Street
Managing Director, Institutional Sales
Mr. Street, MBA, has spent more than 15 years specializing in Canada's oil and gas industry. As an institutional oil and gas research analyst, he gained marketing and finance expertise while a member of two of Canada's most successful oil and gas companies. Prior to joining Tristone, Mr. Street was with Griffiths McBurney Partners. Since 1997, he has been an integral member of Calgary's oil and gas research business. In addition to his work with GMP, Mr. Street has been a director of the Small Explorers and Producers Association of Canada since 1995. Mr. Street became a partner in 1999.
Mr. Street holds an Honors Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Administration from the Richard Ivey School of Business at the University of Western Ontario.
Kelly Grosky
Vice President & Director, Institutional Trading
Mr. Grosky joined Tristone Capital Inc. in March 2002. Prior to Tristone, he was Vice-President, Operations and Chief Compliance Officer at a boutique Canadian Investment firm. Prior thereto, Mr. Grosky spent five years at RBC Dominion Securities and TD Securities in various trading capacities.
Mr. Grosky holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Calgary and a Fellowship awarded by the Canadian Securities Institute. Mr. Grosky has represented Canada internationally as a member of National Volleyball Team and professionally as a player in the European leagues.
Eric Bruce
Associate, Institutional Trading
Mr. Bruce joined Tristone in March 2007 as Associate, Institutional Trading. Prior to joining Tristone, Mr. Bruce worked for TD Waterhouse in a retail trading capacity for high value clients. Preceding TD Waterhouse, Mr. Bruce worked as a Proprietary Equity Trader for an international day trading firm. Mr. Bruce holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Lethbridge and is a candidate in the Chartered Financial Analyst program.
Michael Rayton
Associate, Institutional Sales
Mr. Rayton joined Tristone as an Investment Advisor with the private client group in November 2005, and has recently moved to the Institutional Sales group. Prior to that, he spent 5 years in the private client division at RBC Dominion Securities Inc. where he specialized in complete portfolio management with a primary focus on the energy industry. Mr. Rayton now focuses exclusively on the global energy sector and is committed to providing our institutional clients with the most comprehensive energy investment advice.
Mr. Rayton has a bachelors degree in Economics from the University of Calgary and holds the Financial Management Advisor (FMA) designation from the Canadian Securities Institute.
Tyler Davis
Managing Director, Institutional Sales
Mr. Davis has 28 years of industry experience both with Buy and Sell side institutions. He was also a AVP at Merrill Lynch with primary analyst coverage of the Domestic E&P companies from 1981-1984. Mr.Davis also served as a Managing Director/Partner for Warburg Pincus (now CSAM), Beck Mack and Oliver, and Cowen (now TCW) both as an analyst with primary energy coverage and portfolio manager. Mr. Davis was a SVP at Trust Company of the West on the small cap value team. He further managed 1988's #1 performing closed-end mutual fund, Counsellors Tandem Fund, as rated by the Lipper Survey. Prior to joining Tristone in January 2007, he was an institutional salesman for Petrie Parkman, a US-based energy boutique firm from 2001 to 2006.
Mr. Davis was a past member of National Association of Petroleum Investment Analysts (NAPIA) and the Oil Analyst Group of New York. Mr. Davis graduated from Bowdoin College with a degree in Mathematics and Geology in 1979.
Brian Racanelli
Vice President & Director, Institutional Trading
Mr. Racanelli joined Tristone in January 2007 as Vice President & Director, Institutional Trading. Prior to Tristone, Mr. Racanelli was Head of Institutional Trading at energy boutique Petrie Parkman and Co. Before Petrie Parkman, he spent seven years on the floor of the New York Stock Exchange trading for Credit Suisse First Boston and Morgan Keegan and Co. Mr. Racanelli holds a Bachelors of Science degree with an emphasis in management from the University of Northern Colorado.
Karen Acierno
Vice President, Institutional Sales
Ms. Acierno joined Tristone in January 2007. Prior to Tristone, she spent ten years as an institutional salesperson and equity sales trader with Petrie Parkman & Co., a well-respected energy boutique. In all she has over 20 years of energy-related experience including Vice President of Investor Relations for Basin Exploration and was a member of Apache Corp.'s Investor Relation's team. She began her career as a research assistant for the E&P sector at PaineWebber.
Michael Chewning
Vice President, Institutional Trading
Mr. Chewning joined Tristone in January 2007 as Vice President, Institutional Trading. Before joining Tristone, Mr. Chewning was an equity sales trader with energy boutique Petrie Parkman & Co. in Denver, Colorado. Prior to that, he was a Vice President with Morgan Keegan & Co. on the floor of the New York Stock Exchange, where he worked for six years. Before that, he was employed by HSBC Securities for one year, also at the NYSE. Mr. Chewning began his career working for OppenheimerFunds Inc. in New York, where he worked for four years on the sales desk. Mr. Chewning holds a Bachelor of Science Degree from Seton Hall University.
Jim Ulrich
Associate, Institutional Sales
Mr. Ulrich joined Tristone in July 2007 as Associate, Institutional Sales. For 5 years, prior to Tristone, Mr. Ulrich was an institutional salesperson and operations manager at Petrie Parkman and Co., a well respected energy boutique. Before Petrie Parkman, he worked at Janus Capital as an investment specialist. Mr. Ulrich holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from Metropolitan State College of Denver.
Charles Lesser
Managing Director, Institutional Sales
Mr. Lesser joined Tristone Capital in June 2006 as Managing Director, Institutional Sales. He joined from UBS, where he was Director, European energy equities. He spent the previous eight years in the oil and gas equity research team. His team became Europe's number one oil and gas research team (Reuters, Exte, etc), and was voted the number one equity team across any industry in Europe. Mr. Lesser's expertise is in mid-cap equities, and with hedge funds and global investors. Mr. Lesser holds a Masters degree from Cambridge University.
Dr. Christopher G M Grudniewicz
Director, Institutional Sales
Dr. Grudniewicz joined Tristone Capital in December 2005 as Director, Institutional Sales within International Capital Markets. Following a brief period at BP, he joined the financial sector, training as an equity analyst in the oil & gas sector and progressively migrating to a sector research marketing role. He has worked exclusively in the energy sector and has strong and long-standing relationships with a broad spectrum of European investors. Dr. Grudniewicz joined Tristone Capital after seventeen years at Merrill Lynch and predecessor firms, followed by some 5 years at ABN AMRO.
Dr. Grudniewicz holds a First in Mathematics from London University and a PhD in Differential Equation Theory from the same College.
Christopher U. Maurer
Director, Institutional Trading
Mr. Maurer joined Tristone in October 2003 as Associate, Institutional Trading. Prior to joining Tristone, Mr. Maurer was an Associate at BMO Nesbitt Burns, a Canadian national investment firm. Mr. Maurer joined BMO Nesbitt Burns from the Canadian operations strategy group at Talisman Energy Inc, an independent upstream oil and gas company. In March 2008, Mr. Maurer relocated to our London office.
Mr. Maurer holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree, with distinction, from the University of Calgary where he specialized in Finance. He is a candidate in the Chartered Financial Analyst program. Mr. Maurer has earned his FMA designation and is currently working towards obtaining his FCSI designation from the CSI Institute.
Mark Hodgson
Director, Institutional Sales
Mr. Hodgson joined Tristone Capital in January 2006 from Sarbacan Capital, where he worked as Fund Manager for a Global Long-Short Equity and Derivative fund. Prior to London, Mr. Hodgson was a proprietary equity options and volatility trader for Group One Trading, and a member of the American Stock Exchange for four years.
Mr. Hodgson holds a BS degree in Finance from the Wharton School (Pennsylvania), an Investment Management Certificate, and is currently working towards a CFA designation.
Adrian Penny
Director, Capital Markets
Mr. Penny joined Tristone in August 2005 with more than 30 years of experience in the energy and banking sectors. Prior to joining Tristone, he was Managing Director and Co-Head of Sales and Trading at Scotia Capital (formerly Mcleod Young Weir). Mr. Penny's experience has been focused on the energy sector where he integrated the Geneva operation into London upon acquisition in 1996 and developed a trading desk in London that worked in conjunction with its Canadian operations.
Mr. Penny is a graduate of Fettes College Edinburgh and Summerfields School Oxford
Chris Wellesley
Director, Institutional Trading
Mr. Wellesley joined Tristone Capital in March 2006. He came from broker WH Ireland where he advised and traded for high net worth accounts and London based hedge funds covering the energy and resources sector. Before that Mr. Wellesley ran his own trading office focusing on U.K., Far East and U.S. Prior to that he spent ten years at Merrill Lynch running a trading desk of five individuals who were part of a global proprietary which covered the energy market in the Far East.
